RevEx is a data visualization tool we are developing in collaboration with ProPublica to help investigative journalists look into millions of reviews from Yelp. RevEx uses a combination of faceted search and visualization to single out reviews with a desired combination of parameters and keywords (e.g., reviews with 1 star containing the word "food"). See in this NPR article how Charles Ornstein used it to look into 1.3 million reviews about doctors: "On Yelp, Doctors Get Reviewed Like Restaurants — And It Rankles".
